Walking Grade: Goat 3 – long days but steady . You require good fitness for elevation changes and long distances. All luggage is transported from hut to hut.
You only need day packs whilst walking . You do need a summer sleeping bag which can be rented in Iceland for approx £2 a day . This will be carried in the transport. Or bring your own. Huts are heated so it doesn’t need to be a thick one.
If you are extending your trip and have extra luggage you can leave extra luggage at the luggage lockers place. We will give you all the details in your Travel Info Pack.
Prepare for unpredictable weather – rain, sun and possible snow.
Prepare mentally to get the most from your hike. You need to embrace the unexpected as trails may change and we need to adapt. Embrace communal living for this trip – mountain huts and bunk beds. Be prepared to share and connect with your fellow walking women. Take the chance for a digital detox – there is limited or no cell/mobile reception.
Max elevation: 600m on one day.
Terrain: varied terrain, rocky paths and river crossings. Some steep inclines. Bring poles if you need them.
Max distance: 24km/15 miles – we advise do a few long walks in your training

On the trail we stay in cosy mountain huts as we journey to visit and walk in some of Iceland’s incredible landscapes.
